China will accelerate the development of future-oriented industries based on regional strengths, Minister of Industry and Information Technology Li Lecheng said at the China Development Forum 2026.
Li emphasized that different regions will be guided to leverage their comparative advantages and pursue differentiated strategies in developing emerging sectors. This approach aims to avoid duplication and foster more efficient industrial across the country.
China will continue promoting innovation-driven growth while sharing technological advancements globally. The country is committed to working with international partners to advance future industries and deliver broader global benefits.
The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology will prioritize breakthroughs in key frontier fields, including quantum technology, biomanufacturing, hydrogen energy, nuclear fusion, brain-computer interfaces, embodied artificial intelligence, and 6G communications.
Li also highlighted efforts to cultivate world-class technology enterprises with strong core innovation capabilities. Policies will focus on strengthening the integration of innovation chains, industrial chains, capital chains and talent pipelines to support sustainable ecosystem development.
In addition, China will refine regulatory frameworks tailored to emerging industries and actively participate in shaping international standards and global governance rules in next-generation technologies.
