China Launches Summer Service Consumption Festival

China has launched a nationwide Service Consumption Festival to stimulate spending during the summer and autumn seasons, supporting the continued recovery and expansion of the country’s consumer market.

The campaign, organized by the China International Electronic Commerce Center, carries the theme “Quality Services for a Better Life.” It will run primarily throughout July and August, while extending into the peak shopping season of September and October.

Leading digital platforms, including JD.com, Meituan, Trip.com Group, Damai, WeChat, Alipay, and Douyin, are participating in the initiative. Using digital technologies and AI-powered services, these platforms will offer promotional campaigns across a wide range of service sectors.

Key areas include restaurants, hotels, housekeeping services, transportation, vehicle maintenance, cultural performances, tourism, healthcare, and services for inbound travelers.

The festival places particular emphasis on serving families, senior citizens, young children, and international visitors. Organizers will strengthen the global promotion of China’s tourism and cultural attractions, improve visitor services, and make digital payment options more convenient for overseas travelers.

The initiative also aims to integrate online and offline consumption, encourage cross-industry collaboration, improve service quality through digital innovation, and better match consumer demand with available services.

The festival reflects China’s broader efforts to boost domestic consumption by expanding service spending, one of the country’s key economic growth drivers.
