During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, China will take steps to increase the employment of individuals with disabilities, with the goal of achieving adequate and relatively high-quality employment for the group (2021 to 2025).
The General Office of the State Council has released an action plan that intends to employ 1 million individuals with disabilities, improve their ability to obtain work or establish enterprises, and better protect their rights and interests.
The document calls on government organs and institutions, state-owned and private enterprises, and organizations for people with disabilities to shoulder their responsibility to boost the employment of people with disabilities. It also lays out plans for marketing aimed at assisting people in their job search.
In addition, the action plan lays out supporting conditions in terms of legislation, financing, information, and organizations, as well as the initiation of a public awareness campaign.
