The transportation capacity and efficiency of China-Europe freight train services have displayed a robust upward trend in the period from January to April this year.
According to the China State Railway Group Co., Ltd, the number of China-Europe freight train services witnessed a noteworthy increase of 17 percent compared to the previous year, reaching a total of 5,611 trips during the first four months of 2023.
During this period, an impressive volume of approximately 609,000 20-foot equivalent units (TEU) of goods was transported via the freight trains, reflecting a substantial surge of 32 percent when compared to the corresponding period last year.
The growth in China-Europe freight train services was particularly prominent in April, with the number of trips soaring by 25 percent year on year to 1,459. In terms of goods transported, the trains carried around 160,000 TEU, indicating a notable increase of 45 percent compared to the previous year.
As of the end of April, the freight train services boasted an extensive network, with departures from 109 domestic cities providing connectivity to 211 cities across 25 European countries. This expansive coverage further contributes to the facilitation of trade and transportation between China and Europe.
