2023 Zhongguancun Forum: Exploring Cutting-Edge Fields in AI, Quantum Science, and More

The upcoming Zhongguancun Forum of 2023 is set to take place in Beijing from May 25 to 30. During a press conference held on Monday, a senior official announced that State leaders, foreign dignitaries, heads of international science and technology organizations, diplomatic envoys, and business representatives would be invited to the opening ceremony.

Themed “Open Cooperation for a Shared Future,” this year’s forum aims to foster collaboration and explore the frontiers of innovation. The event will encompass a wide range of activities, including conferences, exhibitions, research achievement releases, competitions in cutting-edge fields, and technology trading. In total, there will be approximately 150 events scheduled throughout the forum.

Vice-Mayor of Beijing, Yu Yingjie, shared that the forum will place particular emphasis on cutting-edge areas such as artificial intelligence, quantum science, and brain-computer interfaces. The objective is to uncover technological innovation trends, showcase the latest achievements, and unveil a selection of new technologies.

The forum will consist of 55 parallel sessions, focusing on various frontier fields such as artificial intelligence, life science, and clean energy. Additional topics of interest will include data management, women’s scientific and technological innovation, and digital sports.

The competition in cutting-edge fields unit is expected to attract a record-breaking participation, with over 2,500 teams from more than 30 countries and regions attending.

Highlighting the international nature of this year’s forum, Vice-Minister of Science and Technology, Wu Zhaohui, emphasized the increased involvement of international technology institutes and global companies. Guests from over 80 countries and regions will be invited, along with more than 200 foreign government departments, international organizations, and institutions. Furthermore, more than a quarter of the forum’s speakers will be foreigners.

Wu expressed the intention to establish the ZGC Forum as a significant international science and technology summit and a platform for showcasing new scientific achievements and related policies. This vision aims to contribute China’s strength and wisdom to the global development of science and technology.
