The 12th China-ASEAN Mining Cooperation Forum and Exhibition commenced in Nanning, the capital of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in southern China. During the opening ceremony, Li Jinfa, the head of the China Geological Survey, highlighted the remarkable progress and dynamic collaboration between China and ASEAN in the mining sector.
Cooperation between the two regions has expanded and deepened across various aspects of the industry, including mining exploration, development, processing, trade, and the establishment of downstream industrial parks. Moreover, collaboration now extends to scientific research, capacity building, and talent training, fostering a comprehensive and robust partnership.
Approximately 1,100 participants representing mining authorities, enterprises, and business associations from China and ASEAN attended the event. The forum provided a platform for engaging discussions on key topics, including the transformation and sustainable development of the mining industry, promotion and cooperation strategies, and the advancements and applications of new technologies.
In addition to the forum and exhibition, organizers conducted a mining personnel training program and hosted mining promotional activities specifically tailored for Cambodia, Laos, and Malaysia.
Since its inception in 2010, the China-ASEAN Mining Cooperation Forum and Exhibition has been successfully held 11 times. These gatherings have facilitated the signing of over 160 agreements, collectively valued at more than 66 billion yuan (approximately 9.4 billion U.S. dollars).
