Turkish Traders Aim to Strengthen Cooperation with China, Eyeing Market Expansion

Turkish traders are actively pursuing opportunities to enhance collaboration with China and expand their business ventures in the Chinese market through upcoming projects, according to an industry insider.

Jak Eskinazi, Head Coordinator of the Aegean Exporters’ Association, expressed optimism about achieving significant breakthroughs in cooperation with China. In a recent interview with Xinhua, Eskinazi highlighted the post-pandemic era as a promising time for bilateral trade between Turkish and Chinese companies.

Eskinazi emphasized that Turkish businesspeople are actively working towards increasing market shares for Turkish natural stones and other products in China. As a testament to this commitment, approximately 60 Turkish companies participated in the natural stone fair at the 23rd China Xiamen International Stone Fair in Fujian Province in early June.

To support Turkish companies, the association organizes informative seminars and webinars, providing guidance on storage, sales methods, and business practices in China. Additionally, the association leverages media advertisements and maintains a presence on Chinese social media platforms such as WeChat and Weibo, focusing on food and natural stone sectors.

Looking ahead, Eskinazi disclosed the association’s plans to host a trade forum in Türkiye, specifically targeting Chinese businesspeople.

The Turkish businessman also expressed optimism about the potential for tourism cooperation between the two countries. He highlighted China’s growing income levels and the increasing desire of Chinese people to travel. Türkiye’s attractiveness as a tourist destination and the potential to develop infrastructure to showcase its natural beauty make it an appealing choice for Chinese tourists.

The Aegean Exporters’ Association, comprising 7,500 member companies operating across 12 main sectors in Türkiye, has been actively engaged in promoting trade. By the end of 2022, its affiliated companies had exported products worth 18.3 billion U.S. dollars to approximately 210 countries and regions.

In conclusion, Turkish traders are dedicated to strengthening ties with China and expanding their presence in the Chinese market. With a focus on sectors such as natural stone and a proactive approach to market promotion and business support, Turkish businesspeople are eager to tap into the growing opportunities for collaboration between the two nations.
