LEGOLAND Shanghai Tops 2 Million Visitors in One Year

LEGOLAND Shanghai celebrated its first anniversary on July 5, announcing that it has become the fastest LEGOLAND Resort in the world to surpass 2 million visitors.

The resort also recorded the highest first-year visitor growth among all LEGOLAND parks globally, highlighting the strong demand in China’s family tourism market.

Families with children remain the resort’s primary visitors, accounting for more than 80 percent of total attendance. While most guests come from the Yangtze River Delta, the park has also attracted increasing numbers of visitors from Beijing, Guangdong and Shandong.

John Jakobsen, Chief Strategic Portfolio Development Officer of Merlin Entertainments, said LEGOLAND Shanghai ranked first among all global LEGOLAND resorts in both visitor numbers and guest satisfaction during its first year of operation.

He noted that the strong performance reflects the enormous potential of China’s family entertainment market and reinforces Merlin Entertainments’ long-term commitment to expanding in China.

Covering 318,000 square meters, LEGOLAND Shanghai is China’s first LEGOLAND Resort, the world’s 11th LEGOLAND park, and was the largest LEGOLAND Resort globally when it opened.

Resort General Manager Jeanette Chen said the company will continue creating more interactive experiences and bring LEGO’s creativity and play culture to more Chinese families while supporting the development of Shanghai’s Jinshan District as a tourism destination.
